The aussie teams are just breaking into pre season games, where as, correct me if I'm wrong, Super Leagues competition proper has already started at WCC time...???...Logic will tell you the ESL teams are a little better prepared.......I would still love to see an all star game..........I don't agree that the two comp winners give you the best players on display, it gives you the best teams, not nessecairily the best players........and playing in England heavily favours the ESL sides, as it would heavily favour the NRL sides were it played in Australia

Only this year because of the WC. But usually its in the pre season for both. The NRL teams are usually well into pre season matches anyway so should not be that much more different. What you have to remember is that the best teams are that, the teams that have the best players that work as a team. Look at englands soccer team, argualbly have the best players in the world in it but can't win squat or even qualify for squat becasue they cant work as a team. The WCC is a nice incentive for teams to work for.

    Re: NRL VS SL

If your asking which has the country has the best league then the answer is the Super League. Just look at the WCC results.

We are beating the Aussies now 11 - 4 (exluding the 1997 WCC between Brisbane and Hunter Mariners) with the SL winning 7 of the last 8 played.

If you are asking which country has the best Players/National teams its going to be Australia, down to the sheer depth of thier squad with thier home grown players.

    Re: NRL VS SL

I am a big fan of the ESL and I watch the 2 games a week we get here in Australia through Pay TV. The ESL has improved hugely over the last decade, but I still dont rate it quite as highly as the NRL. The defence is the main problem in the ESL I think. There are probably 4 ESL teams that could match it week in week out with the top 8 NRL teams. In my view, the ESL will gain more respect when they reduce the maximum amount of Australian players per team back to 5, instead of 10 which is what I believe it is now. I know most teams dont use their full quota of 10, but some do.

The ESL is heading in such a great direction now, and although im disappointed Toulouse missed out im happy that the Crusaders got in. I dont know much about Wales RL, and it would be interesting to know what sort of a following they get there for the local games. I hope they get behind the Crusaders next year.

I think that is what everyone are thinking... its a gamble that the RFL took, and the right one in my opinion, but its now upto the Crusaders, Bridgend and the WRL to make it a success.

    Re: NRL VS SL

European Superleague is getting better and better, and we are lowering the number of overseas players allowed. It used to be three Aussies only, but now its all overseas players, which can only help our competetion.

Realistically I expect the Aussies to win easily, but I expect England to come 2nd, ahead of NZ, unless there is an Aussie vs England semi final.  But in the next !0 years I expect the England squad to catch up with you Aussies and become alot more competitive!

    Cya in Melbourne!
